Superb in-depth article by Tim Layden on Jeff's struggle to create a new life, following the catastrophic injuries he received when Tabasco Cat ran him down.  Lots of photos and video. D. Wayne and the rest of the family; his racing colleagues (Pletcher, Stewart, McLaughlin, etc.); the doctor who saved his life -- were all interviewed for the story.

  I saw a mention of the article in one of the DRF Tweets, with a link. I'm so glad I checked it out...it's a superb piece of journalism.
  One thing that seemed clear to me was how important Jeff was to D. Wayne's operation. I think it is no coincidence that the period in the 90's when his business declined came after he lost his best assistant.
