There was a tote problem on TPA's biggest day of the year that started with the Oaks. They were still announcing a tote problem for race 10 when the runners for Race 11 (the Derby) came onto the track. Management decided that there would be no wagering for race 11, but it ran anyway for purse money only (and Derby qualifying points). After Race 11 was declared official, they announced that Race 12 would be cancelled. I don't know whether they finally posted prices for race 10 or how that was handled.
Don't think that the tote issue was limited to Tampa. Several other tracks were also experiencing problems, but not as extreme.
