Not to mention the Giants.
(Not that the Bears did so good today!) :(
Apparently, from what I have been told- Penn has cancelled tonight's card
I would expect Mountaineer, Charlestown, Beulah and Finger Lakes since they have snow/ice pellets forecasted.
Parx and Evangeline will be sloppy, more than likely- although if the winds pick up again- Parx may call it off again.
Looks like the only clear racing today will be Turf Paradise and Zia.
Charlestown did call off tonight's card officially.
Per Dave Grening at DRF- Aqu has called off today's card, but both Aqu and Belmont will remain open for simulcasting.
Remington did call off the card last night, in case you did not know.
Remington and Turfway have both called off the cards today due to bad weather conditions.
Parx and Charlestown have called off today's cards.
Card for tonight's races at Charlestown have been called off.
Parx has canceled saturday's races.
Any word about Aqueduct?
Aqueduct has canceled today's card.

Aqueduct has canceled today's card.
Not surprising. It is absolutely
disgusting outside. I basically shoved water and sludge out my parents' driveway this morning. It wasn't even shoveling... more like
shoving. It's quite a bit colder in Boston... still snow and ice everywhere.
Parx will not go again today, third day in a row.
Live horse racing in the northeast in December - February has long been a bad idea, IMO.
What's more depressing than being in a frozen grandstand at Aqueduct in December (been there, done that).
You really have to be desperate to want to see live racing in those circumstances.
Parx did call off the card again today, and I'm thinking perhaps Mountaineer will follow suit, not sure yet.
Penn will not go tonight due to snow- we may have a few more as time goes on.
AQU did call off the card for tomorrow- and has pushed up the posts for each of today's races- last one is set to go off at about 3:45. Wise choice since there are blizzard warnings now being posted- and it supposed to be very, very cold - like -5 below without the wind chill.
Not unexpected, Penn did call off the card tonight- way too cold to be out there, brrr!. And, of course, the snow doesn't really help matters.
Beulah, Penn and Charlestown are a no go for today.
And Oaklawn.
Here's a list of the called off cards that I see so far- sorry if any repeats
Turfway 14th, 15th and 16th
Penn 14th, 15th
Laurel 14th
Charlestown 14th, 15th
Aqu 14th

Or maybe it's just buried under a foot of snow or two inches of ice?

...so it should be called a "most weather" surface?

Hardly. You'd not have a legitimate complaint either if the whole area of the venue was 2 ft deep under water.
Of course........ i am kidding.

:-[ Sorry, Between this, that, and the other, it's been one of those really aggravating days.

No sweat. I know how aggravating days can drag you down...hopefully today is better.
Aquecuct canceled today's card.

Aquecuct canceled today's card.
That seems like a LOT of cancellations for a single year.
Just so everyone knows- turf racing at the A is done for the season- so if any races in the next few days were carded for the turf- the MTO's should be able to go- and consider them in you wagers for the next few days. Not sure when they normally stop carding for the turf there.
The Big A cancelled today (not surprising- it's pretty miserable in the northeast right now):

Charlestown also canceled... it's like an arctic wasteland from probably Virginia to Maine today... need a fire to keep warm! :flaming:
Don't forget the Cognac :chickendance:
I've got the Irish whiskey in the cabinet... and the wind chill in Beantown is around -10 F. :OMG:
One pick today and only one chicken because I have slightly lower confidence in this one. A smallish win/show wager may be in the cards:
SA7: #5 Not Too Shiny :chickendance:
I imagine there will be more cancellations today... negative wind chill in the northeast!

If you shortened that just a bit- would be a great name for a horse
Oaklawn has called off their opening weekend card, and the A also cancelled again today.
Sorry- I misread the posted article that contained the info for Oaklawn- Aqueduct is running today- the article was referring to Thursday's card.
I have a high regard for the Meadowlands and the management team there. They have really done good things with the track.
I know the standardbred breed is a heartier breed as well.
However, I do not think it was right for them to race horses last night.
Looks like Aqueduct called off the card for today via NYRA site.
NYRA broadcasts not working since Monday's few flakes....
This past couple of weeks, there have been multiple races with fields scratched down to three.
Now, today, I saw a field of eight scratched down to TWO. You have to wonder what's going on.
They were the only two horses that didn't run in the last 14 days!
Aqueduct has cancelled todsy

What? But we're in the middle of a heat wave! It might reach 40°!
Yeah, i don't know what's going on but this season is practically a wash.
Both Penn and CT have called off their cards for tonight via Bloodhorse. They also note in the announcement that both cancelled their Feb 5 cards last year as well.
Who has the authority to call for a track cancellation? Aqueduct has had so many this season that I'm curious.
stewards, track management, jockeys i think

Thanks. They're running at 'the Duck' today. It's like nine degrees out there.
Wooo....interface looks different-y.
Aqueduct will not go again today- still at Freezing-the-Hiney off temps. :o
Oaklawn cancelled too
Charles Town will not run tonight or tomorrow night.
Aqueduct is a no go for today- and it doesn't look much better for tomorrow- or the entire weekend. That whole meet is getting gutted.

That is very strange- there is an announcement on the NYRA.com as to the cancellation- cant miss it.
Penn has also called off tonight's card.

Yeah, that confused me. The NYRA channel was running their usual feed with entries listed for today. Then they switched to a feed from Meydan.
I looked it up and you were correct. 'The Duck' is canceled today, And all these cancellations really has shredded their winter meet...how many cancellations does this make?
I think they had more cancelations than live days!
In the last 20 racing dates there were ,10 cancellations,so far!

So we're at 50%...and I don't think they're running today either.

No they are not.
Laurel has also called off the card for today.
Would not be surprised to see Penn and CT go that way as well for tonight's card- I know that Penn did cancel last night- not sure about CT.
CT did cancel last night- and Penn did scrap the card for tonight as well.
Penn has called off the card for tonight- saw over on Equibase.
Would not be surprised to see CT and Mountaineer follow suit.
The following have called off the cards for today/tonight-
Aqueduct
Oaklawn
CT
Laurel
Would not be surprised to see Penn call it off again- it is snowing right now.
ETA- just as I was writing this- Penn did cancel again.
AQ canceled today due to high winds. I'd expect a cancellation of Friday's card as well since the temp is going to plummet tonight and be in single digits for part of the day tomorrow, along with more windy conditions.

Turfway Park and Charles Town cancelled tonight's race cards. It does not look good for Friday racing at Aqueduct.
AND WHY do we continue to race in the winter -in the EAST??? Oh yes - we need the $$$$ racing continues to shoot it self
I agree... if it was up to me there'd be no racing north of the Mason Dixon line from Dec-March.
Ugh, and I have to leave in a few minutes for work and it's 8 degrees outside. :headshake:
