thanks.

Obviously there'll be no show wagering, the question remains will there be place betting?

How much does Doc Allred want to spend on this goodwill gesture?

Dusty

10 k for any placing seems a bit much.. I don;t want bad characters in there
May they run with the wind

Forecast in SoCal calls for storms Thursday and Friday. Shermans likely to scratch California Chrome Saturday if track is sloppy or sealed

Man o Taz

Whoa. That is interesting. Maybe he should fly East for the Harlan's Holiday and stay  there. :-)

Or run in the San Pasqual. I wonder how many will enter the Cali Chrome Invitational as mud only?

Current weather forecast at Los Alamitos on Saturday is sunny with a high of 59. If that forecast holds, the track should be fine.

California Chrome, in his final workout before being shipped to Florida on Friday, worked five furlongs in 1:00.20 at Los Alamitos on Wednesday, showing a quick turn of foot through the final three furlongs.

Working before dawn, California Chrome worked the opening quarter-mile in 25 seconds, and a half-mile in 48.40 seconds.

California Chrome ran the final three furlongs in 35.20 seconds, and galloped out six furlongs in 1:13.40, according to Los Alamitos clockers.

California Chrome will have his next start in the $12 million Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 28 before he is scheduled to go to stud in Kentucky in February. The 2014 Horse of the Year, California Chrome has not raced since winning the Los Alamitos Winter Challenge on Dec. 17. He finished second to Arrogate in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 5.

Chrome looked absolutely magnificent in that last work at Los Al. He leaves California for probably the last time on Friday morning. If he handles the Gulfstream track as good as he's handled all other tracks he's raced on, he should run another fine race in the Pegasus. I hope he goes out a winner, but win or lose this horse has given so much to the sport and all of us who love him. Now I hope he becomes a successful sire so that he will never be sold and will be able to finish out his life at Taylor Made.

It should be exciting. Safe travels tomorrow big guy.

Chrome safely arrived at Gulfstream Park accompanied by Raul. Alan and quite a crowd were there to greet the champ when he arrived. Speaking as a Californian, this is bittersweet, because it's sad that Chrome isn't likely ever to step foot in his home state again. But he is going to a great home at Taylor Made, so I'm very happy about that. http://www.paulickreport.com/news/pegasus-world-cup/bright-eyed-california-chrome-arrives-safely-gulfstream-park/

California Chrome worked this morning at Gulfstream. Went 5F in 1:00 3/5. A day or two before the work, Alan Sherman said he wanted Chrome to go in about 1:00, so this was spot on. I watched the work as it happened on Gulfstream's live stream. Chrome had his ears pricked the whole way. He was looking around taking in the sights during the jog out, then was all business during the work. Dihigi always stayed high up over the saddle...never got down into it race style. Looked like Chrome handled the track just fine. Also, there were people lining the rail around the club house turn and all along the backstretch watching Chrome work. These must have been people who work at the track, because it wouldn't be an area where the general public could go. It was quite a show of respect for Chrome from the horsemen and women at Gulfstream.

There was also a big crowd on the grandstand side to watch Chrome work.
