I may put Summering at the top of my 'Two-Year-Olds To Follow' list. Not just because she's by War Front, owned by Glen Hill and trained by Tom Proctor, all of which are pluses for a turf filly. She's also out of the very good, G2-winning turf mare Wishing Gate. Nice credentials.   8)
Her win was pretty impressive, too.

There were two impressive youngsters who won yesterday: The Glen Hill Farm filly, Summering (War Front) wired the field in a 1-mile MSW on the turf, and Roadster (Quality Road), the much-touted colt from the Baffert barn, won easily in his MSW on the dirt.

Really!? Wow.
I like the filly but, if Casse feels she is competitive in the Travers, IMO he must not have a high opinion of the colts who may show up.  ???

Very nice win by Chasing Yesterday, AP's 2yo half sister, and very professional for such a baby. She broke well, stalked the leader, passed her when asked, changed leads perfectly and won by what looked like four or five lengths. Mike never really got after her, so she's fast, with something left in the tank.
I look forward to her next.  ;D

It's bad. Those links are from one day ago, and the fire has spread since then.   :(
Between the Cranston, Ferguson (Yosemite area) and Redding fires, California's firefighting resources are spread pretty thin. I live at the feet of the Santa Monica Mtns., and worrying about a fire starting nearby is constant.

The 6 horse, Macho Citizen, was abruptly pulled up on the backstretch in the 5th at Saratoga, a 6-furlong MSW for 2yos. No mention of the incident from the talking heads on TVG.  :(

I was looking at the entries for Del Mar's 1st, which is a MSW for 2yos...and the weather for today is described as "Patchy Smoke."   ???
The smoke from that terrible Idyllwild fire must being blowing down toward Del Mar. The barns there probably have a fair number of horses who fled the San Luis Rey fire; I wonder if the smell of smoke is going to make then anxious?   :(
ETA: 'Pharoah's little sister, Chasing Yesterday, is debuting in that 1st race.

Hofburg looked damn good in the Curlin today. Even with the sloppy track supposedly favoring front runners, he went by the leaders and won by open lengths.
Of course, it was only a field of five.  :-\
Depending on how Good Magic does in the Haskell, Hofburg might end up favored in the Travers.

It would be great if Gunmetal Gray turned out to be a good one. We lost his sire, Exchange Rate, early in 2016, so GG may be from the late Danzig stallion's last crop.

Dusty, you may be right about those barns. From what I can see in that photo, the barn is all-wood construction. IIRC, Hollywood Parks' barns were concrete block, much safer in protecting against a devastating barn fire.   :(
As far as a new occupant of that particular stall, maybe it's time for a filly to fill that space. Baffert's Pioneerof the Nile filly, Mother Mother, looks to be a juvenile with a ton of potential.

Good grief...I can't believe I misspelled Justify's name when I started this thread.  :-[ I KNOW better, and I'm usually much better at proofreading my posts. I corrected the OP, but the mistake will live on in the responses.
I blame the heat; my brain has been parboiled these last few days. I could probably get my own name wrong.

Kurenai was able to post once, that she knew the site was 'broken' and that she is working on it.
It's still busted this morning. I hope she is able to get to the source of the problem, but it must be a challenging chore.   :(

It makes sense for her to skip the last leg in the Canadian TC if the trainer feels strongly that 12 furlongs on the grass is NOT what she does best. They want to compete in the BC Distaff, which IIRC is 9 furlongs. And on the dirt.
The Distaff could end up being the best race of BC Saturday, with fillies & mares like Abel Tasman, Elate, Midnight Bisou, Monomoy Girl, Unique Bella and Wonder Gadot heading there. The Classic, on the other hand, may be a diluted version of what we thought we would see earlier this summer.

Only five horses are running for that $600,000 Jim Dandy purse: Flameaway, Tenfold, Reride, Sporting Chance and Vino Rosso.   :(
