I've been to Los Alamitos more times than I can remember to attend the QH's and once did the Hollywood Park/Los Al Marathon Double.  I've also attended Harness Racing at Los Alamitos.

I believe you're right, Raven.  Team Stronach can keep him from training there and at any of their other tracks but Breeder's Cup Ltd. has final say on who can enter and compete in their races.  Since Santa Anita is hanging on to the BC by its' cuticles, I doubt they would fight it.

Scapegoat may be the wrong term but he's certainly being made an example.  Wasn't Team Stronach leasing Bay Meadows and didn't they own GGF when Dorf was filling all the races there as he had before Stronach came along?  I've never been his biggest fan but he is what he is and Dorf has been that as long as I can remember.  This whole thing reminds me of the old parable about the Frog and the Scorpion.  Dorf is the Scorpion, it's his nature.  That's why I thought it was curious that Fox Hill took their horses away from him with such indignation over the Songbird incident.  Did they do any due diligence?  Did they not know the way Dorf does business?  It amazes me when people give horses to Dorf or Baffert or Miller or Cerin and then grouse when the horses are run into the ground or hopped up to the gills.  By the same token, I could never understand it when people gave horses to Bruce Headley or Ron Ellis and then complained when the horses run 3 times a year. 

Fighting fire with gasoline, I see. I think this has more to do with Saez and the West's public defense. Evidently, the CD stewards don't like to be questioned using the public as a jury. This is when Stronach should step up and take half of the Pegasus money and card a new Derby at either Santa Anita or Gulfstream. Perhaps if CD had to scramble to get #'s 7 or 8 on the point list to be the favorite, they would see how flawed their race has become.

I was referring to Country House. They've got a classic win, why risk exposing him? Lay your hand down and take the pot. Timing is everything and he had good timing which lead him to be in the right place at the right time on Saturday.

Maximum Security is a time bomb in my opinion. Training him with those two-minute licks isn't style it's necessity. When he goes wrong hopefully it will be in the morning and it will be minor and not life threatening. If they can gather enough bubble gum and duct tape to get Maximum Security through the Haskell, Omaha Beach will need to win the BCC, most likely, to take the Eclipse.

I get that but, I would think he is still missing some training and I just don't see Mott tossing him into the Belmont not 100%. Personally, I'd retire him now, you only get so much luck with a horse.

The vets giveth as well as taketh away.  Last year on a fairly non-descript day at Emerald Downs—ironically most days there can be described as such—I bet the 4 horse in a real ham and egger type race. Just as the horses are going in the gate for the 5.5f race, the 4 rears, tosses the jock, does a 180 and sprints to the back of the chute—a furlong jaunt. So I head over to change my bet. Before I could make the change, the horses are in the gate, the bell rings and they're off. So I figured my horse is scratched and I'll just watch the race. I notice a horse got left at the gate and is well behind the field, then I notice the horse has a yellow saddle cloth—it was my 4 horse, it hadn't been scratched. It was 7-1 before it's little joyride but after the start, I see it was 13-1. Three horses are engaged in a speed duel up front and begin to shorten their stride and trip over their tongues at the 1/8th pole. A horse comes to get them all—replete with a yellow saddle cloth—it was my 4 horse!  Only at Emerald Downs.

I think you're referring to the trainer, Pancho Martin, who was by no means shy but it was also played up a bit for the movie. The Mouse being the Mouse, after all.

I remember because of that contract, the next winter at Santa Anita PVal fruitlessly chased Best Pal, time and time again on Dinard. Before the contract, Best Pal was PVal's mount. I remember back in the day, the Whiteley's had a contract with Jacinto Vasquez. I don't know if they got a cut when he pulled one here and there, though.😉 Even further back, Fred Hooper would scour Panama for jocks and bring them to the states where they rode under contract to him. A few Hall of Famers, in that group. Baeza and Pincay were a couple of them.

DRF gives you the sire, dam and grandsires. If you want to go further back than that you can look up each horse individually on pedigreequery.com. The latter site can be a little erratic, but the more contemporary horses, I've found, are more accurate.
