TVG has passed on the shocking news that the great Quarterhorse, Moonist, has died. He was taken to a clinic yesterday after showing some discomfort. He was operated on late last night for possible colic...and the surgeons found so much internal damage that he could not be saved.
The gelding had won four races this year, the last by a margin that you might see in a TB race, not 440 yards. He seemed destined win far more, setting records for times and money won as he went.  :(

Moonist, oh no!  Loved watching him on the Quarters.  Awful, he was such a talent and so fun to watch. :(

It is with sadness that we have learned that our former Champion, Sky Jack, the one that started it all for our Team, has been diagnosed with melanoma and will be humanely euthanized today.
Our heartfelt condolences to the Ren- Mar Thoroughbred family on their loss. He will be greatly missed and always fondly remembered by us.

   How sad.
I see that Sky Jack was a grey. I wonder how frequently greys are diagnosed with forms of skin cancer.  :(

I read that once a grey horse is over 15, the rate of melanoma is 80% or higher.

With heavy hearts we are sad to share that the very promising filly, Dynamite Charge sustained a catastrophic training incident this morning. She was so special in so many ways, not only was she gifted with tremendous ability but she was a gentle giant with one of the biggest hearts of any in the barn. Dynamite Charge will be greatly missed

Sorry he didn't make it.

They believe his trainer, Monique Snowden, committed suicide Sunday evening after being very distraught of his death.

I know that losing a horse you loved and had such high hopes for is tragic, but I can't help but think that there may have been some other bad things going on in her life to push her to do this.  :(
Condolences to her family and friends.
