Not making any excuses but it is extremely difficult be the deep closer in a race when there are so few entrants, needs a full field that sets up legitimate pace throughout, will probably get the ideal set-up in Del Mar.

Ohh, and that $560,000 Juddmonte runner that won just might be something very special someday.  Arrogate got a 96 Beyer for that effort and still has some learnin to do.  Same can be said for the runner-up, Giant Expectations, worth putting in your stable mail for future reference.

The impeccably-bred Butterflies (2yo f, Galileo-Mariah's Storm) finished third in her debut at Leopardstown today. She's a half to Giant's Causeway, You'resothrilling, etc. Is she Mariah's Storm last foal?

You're right!  Some of those Maiden 50's have pretty full fields at Del Mar. ;)

Last I heard, she was hanging out with Serena at Denali. Her 05 and 06 were born in GB, then in US . Gonna do some digging to see if I can find some foals after 2013.

About Ziconic... maybe we can talk Del Mar into a 4 mile MSW. Both her sons could run in it.

Bronson, 2 yr old son of Medaglia d'Oro out of the Queen of the Downhill Turf, Cambiocorsa (herself sibling of California Flag), broke his maiden nicely at Monmouth today.

Cambiocorsa is also dam of stakes winners Alexis Tangier, Moulin de Mougin and Schiaparelli, as well as stakes placed Vionnet. It appears she can foal a good colt too :) .
