On November 1st 1938, it was a match race that divides the nation. Racing fans from California were rooting for the champion Seabiscuit. Seabiscuit is the horse owned by Charles Howard, a former bicycle repairman, trained by Tom Smith, who was a cowboy in his early days, and George Woolf was the jockey of Seabiscuit in the 1938 Pimlico Special. On the other side, racing fans from the East Coast were cheering for War Admiral, the 1937 Triple Crown winner, a horse who was owned by Samuel Riddle, who is also the owner of the legendary Man O'War, trained by George Conway, and ridden by Charlie Kurtsinger. Down the backstretch in the Pimlico Special, Seabiscuit under jockey George Woolf and War Admiral went stride to stride. At the end, Seabiscuit won the Pimlico Special by four lengths at the wire, and it was one of the most memorable races in the 20th century.
