The past three years we have been in Saratoga on the day after closing day...

On the final day we see a special horse in our book...last year it was Mentor Cane.

The year before it was Shackleford and his 9-9:30 work.

This year we saw Wise Dan being grazed, and Cozmic One being walked...but we had the fortune to have seen them earlier in the meet.

Being washed outside the Pletcher barn we saw Palace Malice and we were very excited by the prospect of seeing him run again at Belmont Park in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. This became our Tuesday morning highlight.

Too bad indeed.
