Awaiting imminent announcement from Adena Springs Farm but Mucho Macho Man, the reigning Breeders' Cup Classic champion, has been retired.
Wow. Too bad. Really hoped to see him at Saratoga this summer.
Adena keeping him in the family. Have to see him in the fall instead.
Here is the actual announcement:

...not sure exactly why he retired but, one thing is for sure, the SA Handicap this year was a real tough race. Neither Will Take Charge nor Game On Dude has registered a win since that race (or really even looked like themselves, though Dude probably had an excuse in that CT race)and MMM never even ran again.
Excellent points peeptoad.
It will be interesting to see if anyone from that race who finished in the top 4 wins again this year.
Imperative was in the race and won the Charles Town Classic, but he finished 7th in the Santa Anita Handicap.

Yeah, I think that must just have been a real tough race on the top 4 or so horses. And I correct myself because WTC did win his subsequent start, but it was a less than stellar win against a weaker field and then he went off form.
Too bad he won't be around to defend his title
