Title: November 4, 2014 Melbourne Cup
Post by: Man o Taz on September 11, 2014, 08:06:26 AM
Well, in the US its election day - but in Australia is the contesting of the Melbourne Cup...and some earlier indications with the nominations of what the field may look like...with a number of European invaders...which could make it a strong field...

Dandino will be there for two races in the Spring Festival trying the Caulfield Cup as well as the Melbourne Cup.
Cavalryman for Godolophin is expected to be there...
Estimate is nominated.
A sentimental favorite of mine, Red Cadeaux is there too.
Aidan O'Brien has Kingfisher
Jockey turned trainer, Johnny Murtagh has two entries with Mutual Regard and Royal Diamond.
German bred Protectionist after his win in the Group 2 Prix Kergorlay (3000m) at Deauville.
Another Irish entry is Pale Mimosa by Melbourne Cup winning trainer Dermot weld who won with Vintage Crop and Media Puzzle.
Sea The Moon is another European invader...
New Zealand star Silent Achiever...

They will all be taking on local entry The Offer who promises to be installed as the favorite...

He was very impressive with his late surge. Red Cadeaux second again.

It is too bad the race was marred by the tragic deaths of Admire Rakti and Araldo.

A sad reminder of the costs paid to see these beautiful animals compete.
