:lightbulb: MONMOUTH PARK NEWS UPDATE :lightbulb:
Monmouth Park will have protocols for extreme weather in place Saturday
on the Haskell Invitational card.
The protocols are intended to help both horses and humans deal with high temperatures
and humidity from the ongoing heat wave.
The protocols include having extra emergency medical technicians on hand
to help people affected by the heat;
having ice containers positioned throughout the track and along the path
where the horses walk to the paddock;
having additional hoses accessible for horses before and after the races;
and having a misting system in the paddock.
*** Additionally, post parades will be shortened if necessary
and water trucks will be equipped to hose down any horses in distress on the track.
Races will be pushed back until later in the afternoon when temperatures will be lower, if necessary.
The Haskell Invitational is scheduled to go off at 5:47 p.m. Eastern and be televised live on NBC from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., but post times will be altered even if it impacts NBC being able to show the race.
Monmouth, which is located several miles from the Atlantic Ocean, is in a better position
than inland racetracks in the region because of the ocean's tempering effect.
The Weather Channel's Saturday forecast for Oceanport, N.J.,
calls for humid conditions and a high temperature of 94.

:lightbulb: WOULD BE WONDERFUL IF ALL TRACKS SHOWED THIS KIND OF CONCERN FOR HORSES!
B
...only since I am very short on time these days
B sounds good to me
B for me - it is going to be VERY hot -
My head hurts-- so B
If blunny does all 13 than I will massaging his head all day.
So B
:forruffian:
"...If blunny does all 13 than I will massaging his head all day."
ACTUALLY THE FULL CARD IS #14 RACES :OMG:
A. Why not play the entire card? That's the beauty of handicapping
So far Cruzan is out numbered. "B" sounds great. By the way, Monmouth is less than 1 mile from the Ocean.
Spa cancelled on Sat due to heat/humidity and NJ is supposed to be worse on the heat index than Saratoga. Good luck to everyone, and esp. the horses, on Saturday at Monmouth.
:flaming:
I vote 347 times for A
:forruffian:
Playing a shorter card isn't always about the times zones
Sometimes it's about the length of the card :thumbsup:
14 Races takes a lot of time for people to handicap
when they have plans for the weekend with family and friends
and not a lot of handicapping time for 14 races
It's also a little consideration for Ye Ole Scorekeeper!
:girlkiss:
Scoring 13 or 14 players on a Saturday is a lot on a short card :-\
But even more so with a 14 race card :banghead:
Plus the Writing of the race call the following day
On Wednesday's Midweek Mayham with LESS players
We almost always play the full card no matter how long it is :thumbsup:
:lightbulb: In the final decision for Saturday's card
The majority of those who voted opted for race 5 to 13
Including the defending champion who usually has the final decision in A Choice
As the ole saying goes
"You can't please all the peeps all the time"
But for those who have been with us over the years ...
I think they will agree that we try our best to do just that
:girlkiss:
