The laws vary.  On "Animal Cops Houston" the judge is always taking horses away from abusive owners.   .  And agreeing not to have animals can be made a condition for avoiding jail, or for a shorter sentence.

Moonist, oh no!  Loved watching him on the Quarters.  Awful, he was such a talent and so fun to watch.

There are quite a few graded stakes at 1  1/16 miles, but not Grade 1 IIRC.

I really like this guy.  He may not be consistent nowadays but glad to see he still has an A game.

Oh, I remember that fall--he got his leg tangled with the other horse and tripped, didn't he?  It looked awful and I was so happy when he got up.  He seemed like a hard tryer as he went down the ranks and I hope he finds a soft landing some day.

Great videos, thanks .  The 1968 Californian was loaded with quality speed--Kissin George was really fast and Rising Market was no slouch-- plus Gamely.   Too bad Native Diver wasn't there at 9 to spice it up a bit more. . .
