I just checked my email, saw that Spud was entered, checked the field, and yes I agree... very tough spot. This is a stakes-quality allowance for sure.
And, what is Battier doing on the west coast (or am I thinking of another horse- Pletcher used to train him?).

So is Pletcher serving a suspension or something? I am pretty sure McCarthy is the assistant trainer and I see he is listed as the trainer for Battier here. Usually there is mention of suspensions for prominent trainers, but I haven't seen one.

Hmm. Apparently not since he starting horses this weekend at multiple tracks. Maybe McCarthy is branching out on his own and taking Battier with him?  :o

Yeah ... my boy Spud could run REALLY well and STILL come in 6th!

He's been in Stakes races notably easier than this!

This is a tough allowance race TTM, but Team Hollendorfer must feel he is ready - and he is coming off a nice win - so we'll see. If he wins this perhaps he'll step back into stakes competition...

I'll be cheering him on!

Excellent run by Fury Kapcori. 1:34 and change for the mile... he was the even money favorite and survived a duel going 44 flat for the half nile. Curious to see where he goes form here.

Looks like The Dorf has a nice stakes horse in the Tiznow colt. He wasn't much last year, but it looks like he's improved as a four-year-old. If I remember correctly, he also won his last race at 1 1/16-miles, and set a record doing so. Fast and game...good combo to have in a horse.
