Ruff, he just may have tendencies in that direction.  The owner may have wanted to scare competition.
Some horses are born that way. I had an Appaloosa yearling stud colt that would have cheerfully killed anyone going in the stall. He was never mistreated in any way. He owned his damned stall and everybody better stay out. He would try to kill you for feeding him. You had to hope you got the feed scoop through the side of the stall quick. His mother would have let a crawling baby share her hay. That boy had dominance issues. Getting him trained was an achievement.

But the highest compliment of all
was when somebody in Florida called me to say
MY name was in the Florida newspaper when they interviewed Jimmy Croll!!
He had mentioned my horse poetry and how wonderful it was!    OMG
