. . . and WTC's owner wants to work out a breeding deal that allows WTC to race next year.

http://www.drf.com/news/churchill-downs-owner-hoping-race-will-take-charge-2014

Oddly slow Clark Handicap for no apparent reason, with WTC earning only a Beyer number of 101.

I'm glad Dude is gonna stay in training and same for WTC, or well thats its possible anyway.

Maybe the slow time was a product of two tired horses who have raced all year? Especially Will Take Charge.

Older male traditionally goes to a main track horse UNLESS there is no worthy main track horse and a stand out turf horse.

Some may argue that there is no worthy main track older male. I can understand that argument because GOD did not perform in the BC Classic.

One race should not cause all his wins to be ignored. I get it, he didn't just lose but flopped but still if one race can make him unworthy of Older horse, then something is wrong with picture in my opinion.. same with Mucho Macho Man getting older horse off one win (since some were mentioning him).

I agree Taz ... it wasn't the level of competition that did GOD in on BC day ... it was the crowd. He's evidently not a big fan of traffic congestion. It wasn't a lack of talent.

I agree! I'm glad I'm not the only person who see's it that way! :)

But I don't think the Classic should be so important that winning it alone can make you Horse of the Year/Older Male champion when the rest of your year wasn't so hot. So I don't think MMM (as much as I love him) deserves those.

I generally agree with everyone predictions, 3 yr old filly award will be a close I think.
If Game on Dude wins the Clark, do y'all think that will help forgive his clunker in the BBC & him get HOTY or is that definitely Wise Dan's now? ..I kinda think its going to Wise Dane, but just curious.

Woo! I always thought he had an awesome name. I think his injury was a tendon or hoof problem? But since so many have those issues I could be confusing him with someone else.

I'm not sure it's the challenge part he doesn't like but the crowding part he dislikes. In previous races he's shown to be able to handle pressure with a high cruising speed, but doesn't do to well when other horses are all around him.

Sorry Charlie, I call that a "tablet typo," which I make frequently.  I meant 2 time not 3.  :headshake:

Its all good :D. I have the same type of mistakes on my iphone.

Who was the last 3-time HOTY? Was it Curlin?  I can't imagine there ever having been a turfer getting it twice.

I thought Curlin only won it twice? But he's last one I remember getting it twice in a row.

I'd say Wise Dan, I doubt the voters will forgive Dude's flop in the Classic.

He doesn't seem to have that champions heart when it's going to take a fight to win.

He's a good horse, but not a champion.

I don't get this. In 2011 he was touted for being such a fighter and having heart, I even remember someone(I think Haskins?) writing an article on it. I wonder what happened? Maybe he's so used to getting his way the last two years in Cali he has gotten complacent? Do horses do that?

You don't win the way he does to just be an ok/decent horse. He is a high quality horse who just seems to forget that in the Classic, for whatever reason.

Smiling Tiger looks so awkward because he has sharp withers and a neck that ties in oddly, isn't that an ewe neck? (I always get the terms for neck faults confused.) He just isn't balanced. His legs look nice though. Kinda weird how the tail is over his hock though.

Americain is put together really well with good bone, but he isn't what I'd call "pretty". Kinda rough looking, but isn't that common for Dynaformers?

This probably won't help, but if you knew the root words that  make up the horses name, google could probably help you. I think a lot of names aren't don't translate well. Some of our English names would sound weird if translated into other languages.

Like I said, probably not actually helpful but just in case, I thought I would share. Good Luck

Babylon.com is a free download if you want that.

http://en.bab.la/dictionary/english-arabic/  ... I didn't try it but that's the first none download link that offered it for free.

October 28, 2013, 06:51:38 PM
I have always loved horse racing, but didn't start picking horses til 2006, when I was 13. My records not nearly long as y'alls, but one day it'll get there. :)

2006: Barbaro (1st)
2007: I didn't really pay attention b/c of some personal problems.
2008: Pyro (8th)
2009: Pioneerof The Nile (2nd) and Frisian Fire
2010: Lucking at Lucky (6th), I did have Super Saver in a trifecta though
2011: Nehro (2nd)
2012: Union Rags (7th).. I figured Bodemeister would hit the board, but didn't look at I'll Have Another for whatever reason
2013: Orb (1st) (my best year as picks go)
