In case you missed it.....

Eclipse Champion Nyquist, who has been idle since running third in the Preakness Stakes May 21 and who was undefeated in eight career starts following his victory in the Kentucky Derby May 7, will work five furlongs prior to Saturday's first race, according to trainer Doug O'Neill.

Vyjack is listed on the worktab as being under the care of Bill Mott, but he's actually trained by Phil D'Amato now on the west coast.

Shadwell Stable's multiple grade II winner Mohaymen returned to the worktab June 23 with a three-furlong breeze at the Greentree Training Center adjacent to Saratoga Race Course.

Big Chief Racing, James Justice, and Billy Shelton's Swipe, who underwent throat surgery after a sixth-place finish in the April 16 Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. III), is set to make his return in a June 26 allowance race at Belmont Park.

   Bob Baffert and Juddmonte look to have a very good three-year-old in Arrogate. The Unbridled's Song colt, a $560,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase, may have missed the spring classics but, the way he's progressing, we may see him in some summer sophomore stakes. Baffert certainly likes him:
     Juddmonte Farms' Arrogate had the look of something special June 24 at Santa Anita Park.
     The 3-year-old Unbridled's Song colt won a 1 1/16-mile allowance by 5 1/4 lengths under Rafael Bejarano and trainer Bob Baffert expressed lofty aspiration for him after the race.
     "We've got a lot of options with him. ... The Jim Dandy (gr. II) is there. ... The plan is to get him to the Breeders' Cup (Classic, gr. I)," Baffert said.

I wonder if Kayla is returning to Australia permanently? I think she had a hard time cracking the top tier of riders here in SoCal, although IIRC, her riding was interrupted for a while when she had a child. IMHO, she's a fine jockey, but this riding colony is tough.
I hope she has great success back in Oz.

That's true, but getting an allowance race to fill might be tough and there probably is only time for one race before going in the stated goal which is the Pacific Classic.  Firing Line probably won't be fully cranked, lest he end up over the top for the big one.

That's true and, yes, with only time for one prep before the PC, then why not make it a stakes race? Maybe he'll get lucky and Chrome will have an off day on what will also be his return race.

On Sunday, July 10, closing day of the Santa Anita Spring Meet, Hall of Fame jockeys Gary Stevens and Mike Smith will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to sign one-of-a-kind posters featuring three-time champion mare Beholder and the undefeated filly Songbird, arguably the two best (dirt) females in the country.

Signings will take place in the shaded saddling enclosure. Families are invited to bring the kids, as Santa Anita mascots, Winnie and Lucky, will be on-hand to greet fans and offer Beholder's favorite treat, peppermints!
