The Coventry was won by Caravaggio, a stunning nearly-black son of the late Scat Daddy, who, IIRC, is not known for siring horses who love really soft turf. He was ridden by Ryan Moore, and I love the fact the he is going to be aboard Miss Temple City tomorrow in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes. Has to help her chances.

Such a shame Scat Daddy is no longer with us.

Tepin was facing so many obstacles today...long ship, soft ground, no Lasix, no nasal strip, a rider who is unfamiliar with Ascot
Didn't matter. She WON!!! What a great mare.

She is a monster. Can you imagine what she would have done on faster ground?  :)

Celestine. I hope I get a good price at post time. I think she can wire them or stalk and close.

Good call. Celestine was ultra-impressive.

The impeccably-bred Butterflies (2yo f, Galileo-Mariah's Storm) finished third in her debut at Leopardstown today. She's a half to Giant's Causeway, You'resothrilling, etc. Is she Mariah's Storm last foal?

So happy to see STS get his first Derby winner. Top three finishers were all grandsons of Urban Sea.

I think he is a pretty color and if I cover up his head/neck I think he looks good.  There is just something weird going on in his neck area.  It looks like his head/neck do not transition into his body well.  I think its high withers and/or low neck placement.
If you had to pick, which stallion would come closest to the conformation ideal?
haha  I have no idea.  I really don't know much about conformation.  I'd probably have to look at tons of pics to find an ideal.  I do still think they are all beautiful, even with their flaws.
I do think that Medaglia D'Oro is fabulous looking.

Agree. I saw him win the Donn at Gulfstream and he was just stunning. I haven't seen him in person, but I think Dixie Rags is outstanding.
