Racing / Re: Mr. Longtail, Meet Mr. No Tail
October 31, 2014, 07:59:14 AM
I'm a fan of AP.  Bob Baffert said he got AP with that short tail, and no one will say what happened to it.  It's pitiful looking!  A fine looking horse like that shouldn't have a "little duster" of a tail that couldn't swat a fly if it wanted to!  The tail is the horse's dignity .... like a squirrel considers its tail, and the tail is a necessity for both horse and squirrel.

Would a tail extension be allowed on a racehorse?  Just curious.  There are several tail extension shops on the internet, so AP isn't the only horse in need of a tail.   ;D

I've been around since Whirlaway ..... was just a few months old in 1941 when he became the country's fifth TC winner.  Have a special place in my heart for Mr. Longtail.

Good one, Raven.  Here's Mr. Hooper's obit ... very interesting read:
http://www.nytimes.com/2000/08/05/sports/fred-w-hooper-102-a-leading-owner-and-breeder-in-thoroughbred-racing-dies.html

Born in the little town of Cleveland, GA in 1897, which is known as the place where the 'Little People' and 'Cabbage Patch' dolls were created by Zachary Roberts.  Mr. Hooper was a working man .... till the day he died at 102.

Mane Minister in 1991 was third in all races.

Hawkster in 1989 was fifth in all races.

Yoohoo!  Anybody home?  Guess not.   ::)

From wiki TC:
>Only one horse, Alydar, has placed (finished second) in all three races. He was defeated by Affirmed in all three races in 1978 by a combined margin of two lengths. In addition, Mane Minister finished third in each race in 1991, and Hawkster finished fifth in each race in 1989.<

No,I'm guilty by not making it clear!

The same thread was on the old TBC site!!

I just noticed it at TBC yesterday.  Never played the games at the old TBC site.  Anyway, glad to know the object of the game.  You folks have fun.   :)

This is not a word or theme association game.  But it has taken that road in recent posts!

Lets try to pair known horses that we like to have seen race each other.

I'm guilty.  Should've asked a long time ago what the object of this game really was.  Well, now I know.  Thanks.

Holy moley!  Good one, Raven.  I chose the wrong century to start the process of elimination; I would have never gotten the answer.   :o

Interesting!
