More horses to Japan? Why can't everyone just suck up a few less $$$$ and keep some of our horses at home?  :banghead:

Where do I start? The crappy sound mix?

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed this... my dad thought something was wrong with his TV when the coverage shifted to NBC. Sounded like they were broadcasting out of a tin can.

I thought there was something wrong with my ears. LOL Finally asked Hubby if he heard it too! You couldn't hear the broadcasters over the ambient crowd noise. How could they get it right on NBCSN then screw up so badly on NBC?
And Joan River - OMG who cares?
Beating head smilie coming up. It's a good one!

Racing / Tackiest BC coverage ever - thanks NBC

Where do I start? The crappy sound mix? The botox babe gyrating for the camera singing that horrid song? She ruined the post parade for me. Every time I tried to turn the sound back on she was flapping and screeching.
If this is what horse racing has to do to attract fans, I quit.
The morons that run the Breeders Cup need to think outside the box - they can't out-do the Kentucky Derby by borrowing the Derby traditions and sleazing them up. Tackiest Breeders Cup Prime Time show EVER. Seriously thinking about skipping the TV coverage next year and just reading the DRF charts afterwards.

I am really glad I didn't wager on those 3, and am ashamed at jumping off the Groupie Doll bandwagon.

Me too.  :( Although Judy The Beauty did get second!

Secret Compass was euthanized.  Though you wouldn't know anything happened to her because Denman is a terrible announcer.

How terrible! At least NBCSN decided to say something about it after that stupid football preview was over. Anyone think Johnny V will be back in the saddle later today?

TVG at least has some updates.  The channel that is supposed to do the BC coverage has...football?  Why?

Because NBC is a bunch of morons. They showed the Juvenile Fillies in the middle of football coverage and are going back to Santa Anita at 3:30 ET. Like a damn pregame show was SO important.

Secret Compass went down in the Juvenile Fillies. They never went back just on to ND bullshoot. Any news? Did not look good.

Centralinteligence who got pulled up in the Dirt Mile.  Supposedly (not seen where info from) reported on Friday 11/1 as not life-threatening, but today reported in Paulick Report as fracture of lower cannon bone near fetlock, which does sound potentially life-threatening to me, especially for a gelding.

Oh no!  :(

Seems like a lot of quarter cracks lately, I assume all at Santa Anita.  Is this something that's more likely due to track consistency or just coincidence?

Would hardness of the track have anything to do with it? Just curious.

Was there some sort of neurological damage that contributed to this? What would cause this kind of thing to happen?

So the horses flown to LA for the Breeders Cup from Europe and the east coast should have stayed home because the flight was too stressful?
Huh? Where in my comment did I suggest it had anything to do with flying?

I asked if there was some sort of underlying neurological damage that might have contributed to HH's demise.

Oops, sorry, I was attempting to just quote Zenyatta's post blaming this horse's demise on "shuttling" (flying) to South America.

I blamed the shuttling too. I am not a vet but it seems to be very stressful for them. Who was it that torsioned right before they were shuttled this year? I've heard trainers say that it's stressful to ship so it makes me wonder if the added stress may have aggravated something. I'm not saying no one should ship horses. But animals of all types, especially when they get older (HH was 14), are much more sensitive to changes in routine.
