Vyjack has been doing better on turf lately than on dirt. Tell me they're not thinking of putting him in the San Diego. They are dreaming if that's the case.

Gemologist finally got his first winner today at Del Mar. His filly Morganite looked impressive.

This will be smother year where the best 2 year old fillies come from the west coast,  the other one being the aforementioned Theonewewaitedfor.

Before I view your link stark I apologize for my cell phone typing whatever it feels like typing in lieu of what I actually typed. Sheesh.

This was reminiscent of the BC Classic from 2 years ago. The #1 horse, who finished 2nd, was compromised along with 2 others at the start of this race. I am gobsmacked that Paulick said she "dominated." Well, yeah, after taking out 3 others at the start.

I will never go to opening day - ever  again 0 the place is on OVERLOAD = how they think they can handle the Breeders Cup is beyond me ... it is TOO small =

I'm  baffled by the choice of Del Mar for the BC too. Very small, getting folks shuttled to and from the track will be a nightmare, let alone the bathroom lines, lol! Forget about grabbing a nite there either, for that matter.

I think this is a perfect placement for Vyjack. Not graded company, and the distance should suit him well.

I will NEVER go to opening day again, but a "girlfriend" and I (we're both far past girlhood!) make the PC trip each year.  She's a big fan of CC.

I took the train on opening day from L.A. once. Never again, too many drunk people on board, and Amtrak had no control whatsoever. One guy puked on the arm of the poor man sitting next to me.

It was fun betting my friend Dave as to how many drunk young ladies would fall in their spiky heels during the course of the day.

Glad he's not completely retired, however I hardly call spending the summer at Del Mar working!

Next you'll be welcoming back mchorseracecall.😉

Not on your life, unless he has a different IP address and gets past my bans.

That was bad though stark. Shame on you!

Klimt, from the Baffert barn, took the 6th today at SA. He's by Quality Road out of a Dixie Union mare.

Same connections as Bayern.

I wanted to claim Blues, but by the time I got around to it, he had gone to Ted's barn. The one that got away....

Good luck to him, perhaps he could join TVG, they have a few trainers there as on-air personalities.

Poor Firing Line, I was so looking forward to his comeback.  Was it respiratory or other issues that kept him out so long?

I neglected to add that Yolo Lady, damn of Theonewewaitedfor is a stakes winner and was graded stakes placed. She is also dam of stakes winner Alpenfest. She has the Rasmussen factor through blue hen mare Almahmoud.

Interestingly, as I look at the pedigree of Theonewewaitedfor, all her dams, with the exception of her 2nd dam, were well into their broodmare careers - 16 to 19 years old; her 5th dam was foaled in 1940! I'm loving the fact that her grandsire on her dam's sire side is Damascus.
