3 year olds run 1-2.  A very dull effort by Strapping Groom, who finished out of the money.

STANWYCK, half to Giacomo and Tiago, won the Turnback the Alarm at BEL this afternoon.

I had a feeling she was regally bred, but couldn't remember who her siblings were.  I want a piece of her dam. 3 graded stakes winners so far.

She has a 2 year old filly by Medaglia D'Oro called "Rutile," which is an interesting name. Wonder if Anne Moss likes rutile quartz, which is a type of gemstone that has rutile (titanium dioxide) needles running through it.

Unfortunately, as I was rooting for Lady Cohiba, she faded. Centring finished 2nd...

I misheard Tom Durkin, I thought he said Lady C was comng on the outside. Phew, I need more coffee.

How cool is that? Shirreffs, the Mosses and Alex Solis take the race with Stanwyck.  She was the longest shot on the board.

1. Stanwyck
2. Lady Cohiba
3. Fantasy of Flight

Looks like the stretch out wasn't so great for F of F. Oh well.

Let's start this thread off with .....

Bill of Rights, a full to Colonel John and Mr Hot Stuff, finished 2nd in the 2nd at Keeneland today.

The Ramseys, who claimed him before, won the race with another horse, and claimed back Bill of Rights, who prior to this race had won, I believe, 2 in a row on the turf.

Islandgirl, try using the "attachment" button at the bottom of a new post.  I believe that's how it was done at TBC. The "img" button with code is primarily for placing URLs to images located elsewhere online.

Anyone got the PPs to post in a new thread? I'd like to pick Chips All In as my longshot pick but I doubt with his experience running down the hill that he'll go off at much higher than 5-1.

No Jet Lag looked phenomenal working this morning.  This is a horse with some definite upside.

Chips All In looked good too - my longshot pick for the BC Turf Sprint.

Racing / Horse With Your Name (or People You Know)
October 26, 2013, 10:07:02 AM
My name has an unusual spelling, but there are a few horses with my name in them.

If someone names a horse "Dreaming of Christina" I will bang my head against a wall. Aren't there enough "Dreaming of ..." horses yet? One just won the first @ Calder - Dreaming of Bella! Ack!

The coolest instance for me of "horses named after people I know" came when, in a stakes race @ Gulfstream, My Pal Chrisy and Appealing Stella made up the exacta. My mom's name was Stella (and the race was run just after she passed away 2 months ago). I was rooting for the horse with my mom's name to take that race, but she faded in the stretch.

As for my buddy Dave in TJ Mex, he's got a slew of horses with his name, the funniest of which is Poker Dave (chuckle!).

Moreno would be a great pick in the Dirt Mile. Unfortunately he was only entered in the Classic.

You'll get a good price in the classic but you have to be quite a bit more brave.

I had no idea, Kennedy.  **red faced**  The mile would have been a better spot for him. I don't think Verrazano is unbeatable, or any horse in that race for that matter.

Horse Followings / Re: Tiznow Offspring

After a VERY long layoff, Tizracer runs in the 7th at Gulfstream today. He had briefly been on the TC trail last year before being injured and put on the shelf. He returns favored off a year layoff (after being injured in last year's Dixiana).

Fantasy of Flight, an underachieving 5 year old mare, will be running in the Turnback the Alarm (G3) @ Belmont today. This will be her first start for Pletcher.  I liked his comment this morning on HRTV, "She's a big scopey filly, a route of ground should suit her."  She had been running mostly in sprints up until now.

Pointsoffthebench, dual graded stakes winner and contender for BC Sprint, died on the track this morning.. .RIP. He was my favorite for the race.
