Well, the Kentucky Derby offered us a record making performance by Justify has he became the first unraced 2 year old Kentucky Derby winner since Apollo.

I was amazed at his performance because he was able to do it being so lightly raced and having his raced bunched together so much.

Do we have another Triple Crown winner on our hands?

It certainly looks like it may be the case, but it seems that way every year. I remember last year reading that everyone thought Always Dreaming would do it, then before that Nyquist would do it. However, Justify seems pretty remarkable.

I think Lukas may have something to say about the outcome with his entries. They are training well. I also wonder about Diamond King and John Servis.

Looking forward to the post-position draw, though it really has seemed inconsequential in this race.

To beat Justify, you have to hope he won't run his race. It's really pretty simple. I thought Always Dreaming was a huge bet against in the Preakness last year. Until Pletcher shows me he can prepare a horse for the Derby and then have it come back two weeks later with another big race, I'll look elsewhere. Nyquist hated slop and was always vulnerable because no one ever knows if your going to get Super or Stuper Mario. In the Preakness, Nyquist had to contend with both the latter and slop.

Justify is a nice horse but I don't know if he's worth 1-5. I think the only reason Chad
is running his horse is that Justify had a couple health concerns. He only has to make up 2 1/2 lengths  :chickendance:
the last (2) quarters in the derby were 26.34 and 26.85 and he STILL WON. I might take
a shot with Bravazo. He ran a credible 6th in the derby lol + he won't have 6 wide Contrearas on him.
I find it hard to get excited when you know all the turf races will be taken off and it looks like it
will be a monsoon the next couple days

According to a PIM track official (his name escapes me) the turf races are very likely to stay on. The grass is supposedly kept longer and they must have some drainage system to keep it in shape after all the rain they've already had this week.

Anyway, I don't think the Preakness is a real bet-able race unless one is thinking of doing a straight tri or something, but some of the undercard races look nice so hopefully the turf ones do in fact stay on.

On paper it looks like Justify. Talented, has won on the mud. I was going with Quip, but don'
t know if he has ever encountered a sloppy track. So instead I'm going with Good Magic., nice horse and we know he likes the mud.

1./ Good Magic
2./ Justify
3./ Quip

Well, he made up a length and a half...

I had the top 4 in my tri but did not bet a super... :-\
