Please be patient while we try and restore the site after it was hacked. It may not be till the Florida Derby before we get it completely working but we're trying!

My Derby 3 ....

Many horses running are not very seasoned, and I didn't care for McCraken's comeback race. Classic Empire's comeback was fabulous, so he makes the top 3:

Classic Empire
Irap
Gormley

I'm very much on the fence with Classic Empire. His goofy behavior may be troublesome in a huge crowd.  Irap's lead change problems appear to be solved, and Gormley has learned to relax.

I voted for Chrome because he's created a big fan base and has raced for several years at the top level. Granted, the same can be said for Beholder, but in terms of fans, interest and $$, Chrome's got everyone's beat.

In terms of popularity, he's this decade's Zenyatta, with personality and copper penny looks to boot.

Whew!....that's one long article  :chickendance:
All that money, a triple crown champion and each talk
bad about each other.

Small wonder horse racing has become marginalized. What a sniping bunch of commentary from someone who so relishes the limelight. Baffert can sit with his f-ing coffee at Clockers' Corner and not needs to worry about falling off a horse and never walking again; jockeys DO. If Victor wants to capitalize on his time in the sun post-AP, more power to him.

And what an ego, saying Victor wasn't a money rider till AP. CC predated him. And it gave me a great deal of satisfaction to see Gormley beat Klimt in the Forerunner. Maybe if Victor had been riding him he might have won.

Exaggerator will be retired, my prediction. He won 3 big races in the slop, and he's by a top stallion. I just can't see him maturing into a dry dirt track handicap horse.

After Chrome's win today, he wouldn't stand a chance anyway.

My year has been made as the Zenyatta connections win the Frontrunner with Gormley. In my 2 year old thread, I picked him as my Derby horse. That hasn't changed.

As for Klimt, bummer, dude. While Secret House was declared a non-starter, he got out of the way fast enough to not impede any of the other horses.

Stark,

Because of copyright, it's a good idea to just supply a link, even though it takes the reader off site ;) .

Thanks for the great summary of the Pennsylvania Derby!

Despite her losses this year, I'll still take Beholder.

Gormley, a son of Malibu Moon sporting the Moss silks, broke his maiden impressively. I can see him stretching out with no problem. He'd be my Derby horse after what I saw today.
