The Moss’s are focused on the Breeders Cup, and it makes no sense for them to ship Zenyatta from Cali just weeks before the BC to run her on dirt, only to turn around and ship her right back.

If Jess Jackson foolishly dislikes “plastic”, that’s his problem.

There is one Championship, and it’s called the Breeders’ Cup. Apparently, Zenyatta will be there, Rachel will not. So be it.

Last year’s Breeders’ Cup (the whole two days worth) was definitely NOT irrelevant. There were great races, horses ran largely to form, and, sorry Jess, Curlin simply lost to better horses that day.

And…importantly…there were no breakdowns.

So, I’m looking forward to the 2009 BC – synth or not.

Of course, Zenyatta was scratched, so it’s kind of a moot point now. But I’ll answer your question anyway.

Yes, there is a good way to watch races that aren’t on TV, and in fact I wrote a blog post on just that a couple of months ago. The answer is to sign up for one of the online betting sites that have streaming video (i.e. the simulcasts) from all the tracks. You don’t have to actually bet, and in fact I don’t. (Of course, you can if you want to.)

My personal favorite is XPressBet, which unlike some of the others, is totally free. And it has good, reliable, video from all the races at all the tracks. (I watched the Dubai World Cup live on it, and on Derby Friday and Saturday the stream never wavered, even though a ton of people must have been watching.)
